OWA Golf Day 2014
On a day better forgotten in respect of weather 25 OWs and guests played out an individual stableford and team event at Woodbury Park Hotel & Golf Club on Friday 23 May. It was pleasing to welcome new and even younger players and the OW President Nigel Calder (Willows ’63) attended the prize giving dinner in the evening. Winning the team event were Russell Bragg (Darks ’81), Ross Dent (Lights ’75), James Bradnock (Past Master ’79-’01) and David Kaphan (Darks ’60). James Bradnock also won the President’s Trophy for the best individual stableford score of 35 points. The best guest score, nearest the pin and longest drive award went to Steve Cording and the best score by a lady was won by Diane Whittaker.Colin Walker (Willows ’51) once again very generously donated the wine for all the winners. The day will live in the memory of David Kaphan and his team when his trolley and clubs were seen disappearing into the lake surrounding the 13th green.Grateful thanks were extended to Carl Puzey (Richards ’79) for his organizational skills in pulling off yet another very enjoyable day of golf despite the weather.
