OW Cricket, Hockey and Tennis day
No amount of drizzle could dampen the spirits of OWs at our summer sports event at school on Sunday 19 June 2016.

Building on the success of last year's event, 2 teams of OWs played in a tournament with the school's two cricket teams, under the watchful eye of Steffan Jones, Director of Sports and Wellbeing. Play was friendly between the OWs and the school teams, and highly competitive between the two OW teams, who clearly enjoyed being back at the school playing a game they all love!

A small group also joined in the family tennis day, which was coordinated by another member of the hard working Sports and Wellbeing team, Anne Bazley. And if that wasn't enough, Charlotte Kerr (Gillards, 2015) captained a group of hockey loving OWs (plus a few current members of the Sixth Form), to play the newly formed Wellington Town team, the Wellington Foxes on the astro at school. which is also their team site. The Foxes "shared" players with the OWs to help them build a full team, and the game was played with gusto and pace, with the Foxes beating the OW team by a narrow margin of 2 to 1. Many thanks to Gary Beasley, the Foxes' coach, for making it happen and to Anne for joining him as umpire once the tennis had finished.

After the event, despite a rather heavy and persistent shower of rain, the OWA committee provided a delicious BBQ and refreshements which was enjoyed by all.
